Can the U.S. Get a Fair TPP Deal?

John Birch Society, October 5, 2015

The New York Times reports that the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal has been reached, and with "months of final drafting, analyses and debate ... [lying] ahead. Mr. Obama cannot sign the accord until Congress has its 90 days to review the pact’s details."

The article goes on to parrot some of the TPP propaganda points of the Office of the U.S Trade Representative: "The Pacific accord would phase out thousands of import tariffs as well as other barriers to international trade. It also would establish uniform rules on corporations’ intellectual property, open the Internet even in communist Vietnam and crack down on wildlife trafficking and environmental abuses."

And how would they know this if the text of the agreement isn't even available and hasn't been since day one? Never mind that

corporate partners are able to view it, but Congressmen have to view it in a tightly secured room and not take any notes with them, practically swearing an oath of secrecy to not divulge what they've read.

Should we be surprised that the leaked text states that some of the deal will be released four years after the signing? This type of secrecy is repugnant to the Republic and should be a deal breaker for anyone in Congress.

Of course, the article doesn't make mention of the great opposition that Senator Jeff Sessions and The John Birch Society have raised, exposing the TPP as a stepping stone to further trade agreements that will encompass Chinarob nations of their sovereignty, and create regional unaccountable authority.

Contact Congress today to let them know that voting for the TPP is a vote against American sovereignty and our independence! Follow up your email with phone calls (Congressmen tell us phone calls make a bigger impact!). 202-225-3121 for the House and 202-224-3121 for the Senate.

Join The John Birch Society and work with other members in your area to work toward less government, more responsibility and -- with God's help -- a better world.

What We Can Expect If Congress Passes TPP

In this week's "Analysis Behind the News," JBS CEO Art Thompson discusses the ramifications of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. While it has not yet been passed, it is in its final draft stage before it will be presented to Congress. Now is the time to contact your congressmen and encourage them to reject it.
